New Album Super Ninja Press Release: ‘Sword of fire’ the new album from AirHammer is a quintessentially British cacophony following a hereditary line that includes the likes of XTC, Squeeze, The Specials, Costello and Blur. It is fair to say that AirHammer have produced an assortment of tasty tea time treats for you to enjoy. From the album’s title track ‘Sword of Fire’ which pays homage to 70’s Prog Rock (Arthur Brown - The God of Hellfire providing the intro) to the 1930’s style croonings of ‘My Sweetheart’ you’ll laugh and you’ll cry. You may even reach for the light switch in fear. “Its a little dark in here to be listening to such a strange blend.”

new albumRecorded for independent label Riot Club and two years in the making this dynamic duo were given complete artistic freedom and control on their new album (what other label would allow an artist to include Country and Western, Punk rock and Waltzing on the same record?). This is the band’s debut long player, encompassing Strings, Brass, Banjo and Morse Code, developing and indulging the bands eccentric takes on life first discovered on their 2002 mini album ‘Reshaped whilst Damp,’ which to date has sold over 5000 copies in the UK.

The artwork was commissioned for the specific purpose from award winning artist and poet Aaron Griffiths and was influenced by classic vinyl album covers of yesteryear.

History of AirHammer: Formed in 2000 in reaction to a life of boredom and fear in Brentford the band soon released ‘Masters of Disguise’- EP and ‘Reshaped whilst Damp’- Mini album, toured the UK with New Model Army and Neds Atomic Dustbin, as well as playing to packed houses in France and Germany with local heroes.

Having changed base camp to a small island in Teddinton in 2007 Airhammer changed beyond all recognition with thin Reverend Ben Smith and friend and companion Aaron Elvis became RIVER FOLK. Their new Musical mission has taken them all the way from hither to thither, playing from the back of the Riot Club Truck anywhere people will listen. The evil Queen’s constabulary (seemingly not into music) sometimes gives chase sirens ablaze - caught, cautioned and sometimes impounded AirHammer strive to stay one step ahead with a little forward thinking and a lot of planning. But now a new Horror threaten the band the Environment Agency wants us to pay 30k for the privilege of leaving the island by hand wound ferry.

Here’s what the press are saying about The New Album

“…Ever wondered what would happen if in some freakish futuristic experiment scientists created a musical genius with the madcap stylings of Mike Patton with the indelibly British eccentricity of Matt Bellamy or Damon Albarn? ” - 4/5 New York Times

“…Think of it as a rock opera of sorts, your narrator/protagonist Smith a born storyteller with an apparent personality disorder” - 4/5 Rolling Stone

“…Ben Smith, Aaron Elvis and Arthur Brown have built a Royal Variety Performance of a record” NME

“…Reverend Ben Smith and Aaron Elvis would probably be institutionalized if they weren’t making music and as the steam organ is piped up for the crazed Prayer With Waltz intro you are well aware that this is going to be a musical trip and a half.” BBC Radio 1

Here’s what the fans are saying about “Sword of Fire”

“…I got this album yesterday and already consider it to be one of my favorite albums. Truly superb. My favorite track is “My Sweetheart” but they’re all brilliant.” James Mann (New York)

“…the album is very accessible, and if you’re looking for a cross between The Who, Johnny Cash and The Pogues then give this a try.” Michael Yarbrough (London)

“…I would recommend any Rock, Jazz, Folk or Punk enthusiast get this album sharpish. When you listen to its fusion of these very different genres I am sure you will agree with me.” Katie Smith (Texas)
